War's consequences are far-reaching and serious. The numbers of veterans from recent wars who experience post-traumatic stress disorder are estimated to be 30 percent from Vietnam, 30 percent from the Gulf War, between 6 percent and 30 percent from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Add to these figures all veterans whose serious chronic illness do not meet specific criteria for post-traumatic stress disorder and, suddenly, of today's 16.9 million living veterans, we have millions who suffer daily from their loyal service to our country.
