Some research links MS with military service.
An advisory committee commissioned by the VA recommended further research about the potential link between combat service and MS.
Congress has allocated nearly $10 million for MS research under the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs at the Department of Defense.
But for now, the causes of MS remain a mystery. Eisler isn't as quick to link it to his service time as his wife is.
“I have no idea,” Eisler said. “Agent Orange — but yet there's a lot of people that got subjected to Agent Orange. They're not walking around with MS.”

Many Vietnam vets have MS. It tends to be an unusually severe form of MS. Most are not lucky enough to "walk around with it". They don't get out of the house all that much. My husband was a Vietnam vet and had MS. He was told by VA researchers that they had no doubt it was due to Agent Orange. He died of it 10 years ago.
