The database could help researchers better understand why some patients are more responsive to certain drugs or are more vulnerable to certain diseases such as Alzheimer's or diabetes.
Another major focus of the database will be on post-traumatic stress disorder. VA research director Joel Kupersmith said researchers will compare patients with PTSD with those who do not have PTSD to see if there is a genetic difference between the patient groups.
