Americans See Lack of Government Support for Veterans, Poll Finds

Americans See Lack of Government Support for Veterans, Poll Finds

Although the government’s approval rating for vet support has gone up since the 2007 scandal over care at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, only 32 percent of respondents said the government gives enough support to veterans of service in Iraq and Afghanistan. Those who said the government does not provide enough support to the returning troops constituted 62 percent.

The main concerns among those who cite inadequate government support are financial issues (including a lack of jobs and job preparation), medical care (including mental health).
