Veteran wants to start local chapter of Vietnam Veterans of America

Based on conversations with leaders of area veterans groups and Veterans Affairs clinic employees, Mr. Pizzimenti estimates there are roughly 12,000 Vietnam veterans in Volusia and its neighboring counties.
That's why at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 28, at the Disabled American Veterans lodge in Holly Hill, he and a number of other Vietnam veterans from Volusia County will be gathering in an effort to have their own chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America, a national advocacy organization, chartered.
They need at least 25 veterans to sign up for the charter to be granted, about five more than they currently have lined up, Mr. Pizzimenti said.
