The Kristen Renee Foundation heads to Washington DC to reveal shocking discoveries at press conf

Washington DC (MMD Newswire) August 4, 2010 -- The Kristen Renee Foundation will be holding a press conference on Wednesday, Aug. 4th at 2:00pm located at The W Hotel, 515 15th Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20004 to provide an update to the investigation and research they have been performing over the past few months. The preliminary health study shows what appears to be a distorted cancer profile in the community surrounding Ft. Detrick, with several cases of lymphoma and leukemia, as well as other rare cancers. Our research indicates that Ft. Detrick officials have done little in responding to public concerns about the apparent high rates of cancer and other illnesses surrounding the Facility. This is supported direct discussions with Ft. Detrick officials. The investigation also suggests the potential contamination of not just TCE or PCE, but also historical contamination with herbicides and pesticides, perhaps most notably the defoliant known as "Agent Orange". "Agent Orange" was used during the Vietnam War in which 4.8 million Vietnamese people were exposed to the herbicide, resulting in 400,000 deaths and disabilities, and 500,000 children born with birth defects. Ft. Detrick officials indicated that their own investigation shows that the U.S. Government performed aerial spraying of Agent Orange at Ft. Detrick, and the full implications of this revelation have not been determined. However, the Kristin Renee Foundation will be submitting a Freedom of Information Request for any and all information related to this experimental program to better understand the possible relationship to the community's health concerns.

The Kristen Renee Foundation launched its campaign to research and investigate the findings associated with Fort Detrick Area B a few months ago. In that time there have been major discoveries regarding cancer and others diseases in the community around Ft. Detrick, as well as the use of Agent Orange and other toxic substances released throughout the Frederick area. In April 2009 the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) added Fort Detrick Area B Groundwater to the National Priority List (NPL) based on tetrachloroethylene (PCE) and trichloroethylene (TCE) detections in offsite drinking wells. The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) which confirmed residential areas located next to Fort Detrick had traces of these chemicals and were highly contaminated for years[???]. Area B was initially established as a proving ground for the Army's biological weapons program (circa 1946; test grid area). Although bones were recently discovered right outside this area, to date Ft Detrick has done no investigation into the cause of this. Area B was also used for buried disposal of a number of contaminants including biological materials, test animal carcasses, radiological tracer materials, phosgene cylinders, and drums containing organic solvents such as TCE and PCE.

The Kristen Renee Foundation discovered what appears to be a disease cluster along the perimeter of Fort Detrick. Over 400 families, representing thousands of individuals, in Frederick, Maryland have been affected by cancer believed to be a result of warfare development and hazardous waste disposal at Ft. Detrick. Residents around Fort Detrick and Frederick, Maryland area recall clouds of smoke from burning pits in the 1960 and 1970s "blowing through their neighborhoods," groundwater contamination in the past in their individual wells with TCE and PCE known to have been dumped in drums in the landfill and from a Biochemical Simulation Release Tower and Grid Area operated around the same time.

On Wednesday, The Foundation will be releasing details surrounding the research, investigative meetings and reports it has accumulated to date.

Most are battling or have fought a form of lymphoma and many other cancers. Their addresses were all within 6 miles of each other, all surrounding Fort Detrick.
