Letter: Congressman Murphy supports our veterans

Letter: Congressman Murphy supports our veterans

On Tuesday, my husband, a U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran was interviewed in regard to the time he served off the coast of Vietnam. The article was well written and focused on his experiences and exposure to Agent Orange at that time.

It was mentioned that Filner, a California congressman, is the principal backer on the house side. Actually, it was Filner who introduced it as H.R. 2254, the Agent Orange Equity Act. This week, Sen. Gillibrand introduced S. 1939, a companion bill to the house bill. I would like it to be known that 17 from the state of New York, including our own Scott Murphy have cosponsored the House version of this bill.

I met Congressman Murphy almost as soon as he was sworn in as our representative and requested his help with this bill. He signed on without hesitation. He has a dedicated staff and I have come to know Judy Aronstamm, constituent services representative, very well over the past year. She has worked diligently as a advocate for Blue Water Navy veterans as well as those veterans from World War II through our newly returning troops from Iraq and Afghanistan.

So, thank you Congressman Murphy for all your support of the Agent Orange Equity Act and all veterans issues.
